What is Thy Purpose Of Thee Scripture, Bosom
Every two years we are all exposed to one of the greatest sporting events on the planet…The Olympics. Fortunately for you all this post is neither about the Olympics nor is it about a sport for that matter. You see every 8 to 10 years (maybe more) an even more amazing feat takes place.
I read a book.
Sure it doesnt sound like much to you avid book readers but the last time I even picked up something to read that wasnt non-fiction (most my reading is done influenced by learning material in regards to computers or hockey) was probably around 5 years ago when I read a movie script called “Abels Field”. I know what you’re thinking, yes I’m a big wheel for reading scripts (think Entourage) and yes it was a hard read. I cant remember how many pages it was but being able to read it in an hour in the sun in Phoenix made things difficult.
I tend to consider myself big into watching movies and and TV series so if I spend a good deal of time cementing an ass groove into my couch on something I just might get inspired to do something that isn’t ordinary for me. Thus I ordered the 4 book series called A Song of Fire and Ice (I think), better known to us lazy folk as the television series called Game of Thrones.
In old lazy fashion most are probably thinking, why read it when you can watch it. Well truthfully after watching the end of season 2 and eagerly waiting for Jofferys head to get cut off and it ultimately not happening I got depressed cause it hadnt happened. Then I got more depressed because I dont know if its going to happen, and then I got confused the more I thought about all the stories and characters taking place in this show.
Then I purchased the first fiction book(s) I’ve owned probably since the end of High School, which for you regulars is around the time of the great depression, true fact is it may have been the time that someone actually created the word “fiction”…Yes I am that old.
Whats the point of this all? I dont know and if someone has to ask that question you really havent read to many Hotstickybun articles because the majority of it all makes no sense and has no point.
I suppose the moral of the story could be, books are good. Even if you like movies. Since picking up the first book the only time I’ve managed to have the TV on is to catch the Olympics, which is usually only for a short while because as an old frail man why do I want to watch 16 year olds win Olympic gold (and Chinese women being better then men) all the while thinking I couldn’t even tie my skate laces at that age. If you’re happy with your life no matter what your age, think about when you were 16 and what you accomplished and compare it to some of these kids. If you’re anything like me, and I hope you’re not, you will feel shame.
Im approximately 350 pages deep, maybe more, in the first book. The good news for me that despite how slow I may read season 3 doesnt kick off until March 31st, 2013. That should give me plenty of time to cruise through the series but Im willing to accept wagers that that doesnt happen by the time season 3 kicks off. And if you feel the need to spill the beans on what happens from the stories I will gladly light a burning bag of poo on your doorstep.
With that said, would my little to non popularity grow if I started an all male book club? Or would that just be cause for endless beatings from cool people?
Ill end it with WIN A FREAKIN GOLD CANADA!
